The disaster recover plan should be one of the most important policies for a company.  It is what they will turn to if there is indeed a disaster or other serious incident.  The plan can be the difference between the loss of their organization and its survival.  It is therefore absolutely critical that your disaster recovery plan is workable.  It must be a sufficient quality to guide you through the crisis. 

Performing a regular review, test and audit of a contingency and back-up arrangement should be done on a regular basis.  It is essential to help ensure that they are able to withstand and recover from a major incident.

• 43% will never re-open
• 80% fail within 13 months
• 53% of claimants never recoup the losses incurred by a disaster
• 90% of businesses that lose data from a disaster are forced to shut down within 2 years of a disaster
• 43% of companies who have a business continuity plan do not test it to ensure it works
